Tree Clump

This oil painting of Norma’s is a typical wheat belt scene showing a sparse clump of trees such as those next to the salt lakes of the Merredin region. It hung above the living room fireplace on our farm at Nukarni until we moved to South Perth, it was painted in 1975. Our family has always loved this painting as a reminder of our many picnics and outings in the beautiful wheat belt countryside. Evelyn Maughan

Green Trees

Norma gave me this very early painting of hers in the mid sixties. I always loved its vibrant colours and semi abstract forms. It hung on the side wall on the living room wall of Kirkaugh farmhouse until we moved to South Perth. When I worked in Morawa in the late 90s this painting went with me; visiting friends knew they had come to the right house when they spotted this painting through a window. Poppet Head 1971

Owned by Stuart Mackay In 1971 I purchased one of Norma's paintings when I was a 22 year old teacher in Southern Cross and I have sent you a copy for your interest. I have always loved this painting. It was on display at the Southern Cross Art exhibition that year and I purchased it early on the Saturday morning not long after the display opened in the SX Town hall. I paid $25 for it which was quite a sum in those days. My teacher's salary, if I remember correctly, was $40 per week after tax.
